We are Bothy.Studio a design studio Based in Nelson BC. We are an architect and designer duo and we design and make urniture, objects and spaces, have a look at some of our work here. We offer spoon carving workshops too!
Where did we get our name? Bothy [pronounced both-ee, baw-thee] - a bothy is a basic shelter, usually left unlocked and available for anyone to use. It is a term for simple accommodation, a wilderness hut or refuge usually found in remote mountainous areas. Not fancy, just enough.
Like a bothy, our furniture is made with care, to be packed in and packed out, shared and used for years. Flat packable, shippable, put it together, take it apart again. Bring with with you though all of the chapters of your life.
Our furniture, spaces and products are honest. Straightforward. They doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not — and neither do we.
Our ‘be seated’ range invites you to be seated, to take the weight off and have a rest. Button stool is simple, honest, and joyful.
Our Two Bum Bench has space for two. Fits at the end of the dining table for those extra guests you squeeze around the table.

A guide to our furniture

We offer our products in either Birch plywood or Fir with formica colour pops on some features. Baltic birch is a longer lasting more durable material that will with stand heavier use. Fir is softer and warmer in colour. These products will develop a patina over time. Usual care should be take to avoid damage.

Our products are manufactured in small batches. Our first batch will ship in February 2026.

Our products are designed to be flatpacked for shipping and to be assembled at home. Easy to assemble and disassemble as much as you need. Instructions are provided, but you probably won’t need them.
